Aquaculture Partnership with Blue Ocean Technology

Press Release
11th October 2017
Sorbwater Technology strengthens its global position with Blue Ocean Technology supply deal
Water treatment solutions provider Sorbwater Technology is ‘delighted’ following the signing of a long-term supply agreement with Blue Ocean Technology.
Svein Egil Steen, CEO at Sorbwater Technology, said: ‘We will provide our green flocculation chemical - Sorbfloc - and separation technology to Blue Ocean Technology, for use in the global aquaculture market.’
‘Delighted and honoured’
He added: ‘We are delighted and honoured to have been chosen for these deliveries. It further strengthens our position as a supplier of green technology into this segment. The deal will also help to put us on the map in the fast growing, global fish-farming and aquaculture markets.’
Sorbwater Technology and Blue Ocean Technology, both based in Bergen, Norway, provide complementary technologies that minimise emissions in water and ultimately recover value from sludge waste products.
Mr Steen added: ‘Our technology will also reduce total particle emissions on these Blue Water operations, in turn leading to the opportunity for an increase in biomass content - an extremely important value proposition for the customer.’ In combination with Blue Ocean’s organic filters, the sewage content of heavy metals and organic compounds is reduced by more than 90%. The biomass waste (food leftover and excrement) which is very nutrient rich, is further processed into fertilizer.
‘Extremely happy’
Meanwhile, CEO of Blue Water Technology, Jan Henning Legreid, said: ‘Aquaculture and fish farming are increasingly vital industries for Norway, indeed the world, moving forward. We are extremely happy to be working with our trusted and valued partner Sorbwater Technology in such an exciting area, bringing Norwegian innovation to these important markets.’
High performance
Sorbwater Technology has developed a suite of completely biodegradable solutions for industrial high-performance water treatment applications. Although particularly suitable for the oil and gas industry, as well as aquaculture and fish farming, Sorbwater Technology’s proprietary innovations are also valuable to the mining, petrochemical refining, shipping, as well as pulp and paper industries.
To date, Sorbwater Technology has provided its proprietary solutions to clients in the UK, West Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf of Mexico.
